Student Academic Support Services provides free individual tutoring sessions. Our tutors, who have been recommended by faculty members, have successfully completed a course prior to tutoring, have a strong understanding of the content material, and have a desire to help others succeed. Tutoring is available in all the disciplines and in most courses offered across campus; however, because we utilize peer tutors and some courses are offered alternate years, we cannot always guarantee we can find you a tutor.
There are online MATH TUTORS on duty throughout the day and evening through the Learning Studio, please check the days and times available below. These math tutors can help you with Quantitative Reasoning, College Algebra, and Pre-Calculus. Simply make an appointment and use the Google Meet link in the confirmation email to go online to meet with your Math Tutor.
To assist our students, we also subscribe to an online tutoring platform called Smarthinking. You can access the link to Smarthinking through Defiance College's learning management system Moodle. You will find the Smarthinking link available in your Moodle courses.
To learn more about any of the tutoring options contact Student Academic Support Services (rooms 216 or 202 of the Pilgrim Library, 419-783-2332, or sass@defiance.edu).
To request a subject tutor, simply complete the online Tutor Request Form available on this webpage or complete a paper form (available outside of Brandon Ripke's office - on lime green paper). Once a tutor has been secured for you, the tutor will reach out to you to identify the best days/times for meeting and provide you with a Google Meet link for your online subject/course tutoring.
