The Academic Support Center (ASC) provides free individual tutoring sessions. Our tutors, who have been recommended by faculty members, have a strong understanding of the content material and have a desire to help others succeed. Tutoring is available in all the disciplines and in most courses offered across campus; however, because we utilize peer tutors and some courses are offered alternate years, we cannot always guarantee we can find you a tutor.
MATH & SCIENCE TUTORS are on duty at various times during the day and evening in the ASC (Lower level of the Pilgrim Library). These math & science tutors can help you with Quantitative Reasoning, College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus I as well as Introductory Science courses, such as Environment Around US, Principles of Biology I & II, Chemistry Around Us, General Chemistry I & II, Earth in the Cosmos, and The Development of Life on Earth . Simply make an appointment and then go to the ASC on the day/time of your appointment to meet with a tutor for math and/or science assistance.
To assist our students, we also subscribe to free online tutoring from OhioLINK eTutoring. You can use this free tutoring service using your Defiance College email to sign up. For more information check out this webpage: https://library.defiance.edu/ASC/eTutoring
To learn more about any of the tutoring options contact Jordan Gehring, Academic Support Center Director, at jgehring@defiance.edu or 419-783-2495.
To request a subject tutor, simply complete the online Tutor Request Form available on this webpage or complete a paper form (available outside of the Writing Studio or outside Jordan Gehring's office, library 123 - the form is on lime green paper). Once a tutor has been secured for you, the tutor will reach out to you to identify the best days/times for meeting and provide you with a Google Meet link for your online subject/course tutoring.
If the Google form to request a tutor is not opening below, please log into your DC email account then reopen this link. Thanks!
