Please use the statement below on your syllabus. You should also always identify Success Services available specifically for the class (such as supplemental instruction or required Writing Consultations).

Success Services:

Defiance College is dedicated to providing you with the academic support you may need as a student. Success Services at DC encompass the following: Library & Informational Resources, Academic Support Center, Writing Studio, Structured Study Program, First-Year Experience (FYE), DC PASS (Pathways to Academic Student Success), DC F1RST (First-gen program), and  Study Skill workshops & individual consultations. All services are located in the Pilgrim Library. If you have questions about any of the services, contact Assistant Dean Crumit-Hancock, at lcrumithancock@defiance.edu or 419-783-2332. For extra help in this class or many of your other courses, please be sure to visit the Academic Support Center (ASC) in the lower level of the Pilgrim Library, for free tutoring. The ASC also offers supplemental instruction for some courses. For assistance with your writing assignments, visit the Writing Studio in the Pilgrim Library (to your left as you enter the building). Writing Consultants provide students with private, individualized help in half-hour sessions to develop strategies for approaching their papers, projects, and reports through a better understanding of purpose, structure, topic, and audience. As a Defiance College student, you also have access to the online writing tool, Grammarly. To create a free premium education Grammarly account:

1. Go to grammarly.com/enterprise/signup
2. Provide your name and @defiance.edu email. 
3. Check your inbox for the email and click on the activation link.

Most Pilgrim Library services are accessible online. To access the library’s resources off campus, you will need your student ID number. You can locate your ID number on your Student ID card or on MyDC. Your Library Card Number is your 7 digit student ID number with the numbers 80 added in front. For example, if your ID number is 1234567, then your Library Card Number is 801234567.  You’ll need this info anytime you want to request an item through OhioLINK OR to log in to one of our resources from off campus.

Free online tutoring and writing assistance are available at Defiance College. These services are offered through OhioLINK eTutoring. For more information go to: https://library.defiance.edu/ASC/eTutoring
