The following PDF was produced by the Purdue OWL. It is a sample of a correctly formatted MLA style paper & demonstrates proper spacing, indentation, & Works Cited information.
Formatting Tips:
These tips can help you format your paper correctly. You can get more details on formatting from OWL.
Margins:
Page margins should be set 1 inch on top, bottom, left and right.
Font:
Use an easily readable font such as Times New Roman in a standard size, such as 12.
Double Space:
Set your document to double-space the entire paper, including quotations, notes, and the list of works cited. Leave one space after a period or other concluding punctuation mark, unless your instructor prefers two spaces.
Hanging Indent:
Use a hanging indent (first line is not indented, all lines after first line of entry are indented) for all entries on your works cited page.
