Internship Prep101: How to Succeed in Your Internship

Prepares students to enter into an internship by reviewing various topics from office dress codes and etiquette to familiarizing yourself with the company/organization and doing your research before you arrive the first day. Also, discusses how to get the most out of the internship opportunity.

Are you thinking about Graduate or Professional School after graduating with your undergraduate degree? Then this Fair is for you and the time to start planning is NOW!  This Fair is designed for students of ALL majors and this includes Freshman-Seniors! You will be able to talk with college/university representatives about the programs, the application process and much more.

Prepare students for CareerFest! This is one of Ohio's largest career fairs designed specifically for students attending any of The Ohio Foundation Independent College member colleges and universities. The purpose of this workshop is to prepare students for the career fair to ensure success.  We will discuss how to research employers before the fair so students are prepared to speak with employers during the fair, proper dress, resumes (how many to take?), Tips to make the most of the fair, layout of fair/what happens and ensure transportation arrangements.  The upcoming career fair is on Friday, October 4, 2019 Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland.  Please schedule your appointment today to meet with the Career Development staff.


CareerFest 2019-Sponsored by Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges(OFIC)

CareerFest is one of Ohio's largest career fairs designed for students of ALL majors and this includes Freshman – Seniors!  Students and alumni of OFIC member colleges and universities are admitted at no cost.  The Office of Career Development will be providing transportation and lunch to all students wishing to attend. You are welcome to provide your own transportation, however, you will still need to register.  Defiance College students in the past have received internships and employment after graduation from this career fair.‚Äč

Senior Success Seminar: What’s in Your Future after Defiance College!

All seniors are cordially invited to attend this seminar and finalize details for what’s next after graduation!  You will have the opportunity to learn about employment opportunities from professionals in your field, hear about Graduate programs from 2nd year alumni, hear from employers about what to expect during your job search and interviewing, introduction to conducting a successful job search as well as review key job search tools available, and the importance of building a successful network. The event will last the full two hours so please make arrangements with your instructors to attend and please dress professionally – No Jeans!  Lunch will be provided!


Career Conversations for Students Majoring in Allied Health

This event is specifically designed for 1st and 2nd Year students focusing on majors in Exercise Science and interested in entering pursuing a career in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Strength and Conditioning/Personal Training, and other allied health opportunities. Learn about company culture, what employers look for in their talent search, and opportunities in organizations.  Professional Dress Required - No Jeans Please!
