How to Borrow an iPad

Check the iPad record in the Defiance Catalog to determine if an iPad is available for borrowing. Use of the iPads are on a first come/first borrow basis. Library holds are not available for the iPad.

Who May Borrow
Only currently enrolled students and actively employed faculty and staff of Defiance College may borrow a iPad.

Loan Period
iPads may be borrowed for a period of two-hours and only used in the Library. iPads are a currently a 2-hour reserve item and your Defiance College ID will be held while you have the iPad. Borrowers must wait 2 hours after returning an iPad before borrowing it again to allow others the opportunity to use an iPad.

What You Borrow
iPads are loaned with two pieces:

  1. iPad
  2. case 

You are required to return both items at the end of your loan period. You will be billed replacement costs for lost or damaged components. 

Replacement Costs for Lost or Damaged iPads 
Anyone borrowing an iPad is required to sign a form indicating that they "understand that there are certain responsibilities associated with the usage of this equipment and agree to the following terms and conditions":

  • borrower understands that all electronic equipment and/or accessories are the property of Defiance College.
  • borrower will return all equipment to Defiance College in the same condition in which it was provided to me.
  • borrower will return all equipment on specified due date/time.
  • borrower understands that failure to return equipment will result in an overdue fine.
  • borrower is responsible for the replacement cost for equipment that is lost, stolen or damaged.  Damages include but are not limited to accidents, neglect, or misuse.
  • borrower understands that legal action may be taken for failure to return equipment without proper compensation.
