Basic Book Citation

Basic Bibliography Entry

Author's Last Name, Author's First Name. Title of the Book. Location: Publisher, Year.

Example, one author:

Davis, Michael. Street Gang: The Complete History of Sesame Street. New York: Viking, 2008.

Example, multiple authors:

Hoobler, Dorothy, and Thomas Hoobler. The Crimes of Paris: A True Story of Murder, Theft and Detection. New York: Little, 2009.

Electronic Book

Basic Bibliography Entry

Author's Last Name, Author's First Name. Title of the Book. Location: Publisher, Year. URL of database      or website (date of access).

Example:

Sherry, Vincent. The Great War and the Language of Modernism. New York: Oxford University Press,       2003. http://rave.ohiolink.edu/ebook/ebc/9780195178180 (accessed June 9, 2009)

Citations of eBooks require two additonal items:

  • URL of the database or website.
    • Be sure to use a permanent or persistent link if available.
  • Date the book was accessed.

Chapter in an Edited Book

Basic Bibliography Entry

Author's Last Name, Author's First Name. "Title of the Chapter," in Title of the Book, ed. Editor           First Name Editor Last Name (Location: Publisher, Year), page numbers.

Example:

Dueck, Jeffrey. "Religious Pluralism and the Super Best Friends," in South Park and Philosophy: You Know, I Learned        Something Today, ed. Robert Ar (Malden: Blackwell, 2007), 224-235.
